In a captivating blend of history, craftsmanship, and artistic expression, the recent wedding of Brooke and Oscar held at the McClintock distillery in Frederick, MD, brought together the allure of Art Deco and the organic beauty of Art Nouveau. Our catering team had the honor of catering this extraordinary celebration; where the industrial-chic backdrop of the distillery served as the perfect canvas to showcase the seamless fusion of two iconic design styles. The result was an enchanting and unforgettable wedding experience.
Choosing the distillery as the venue added an unexpected and intriguing element to the Art Deco and Art Nouveau theme. The rustic charm of the distillery’s exposed wooden beams and aging barrels provided a captivating contrast to the elegance of the chosen styles.
The wedding decor expertly combined the bold geometric shapes of Art Deco with the organic forms and flowing lines of Art Nouveau. McClintock was embellished with luxurious accents, such as gilded frames, ornate mirrors, and elaborate floral arrangements from Rocklands Farm. Tables were dressed with vintage glassware, and centerpieces that harmoniously blended the classic Art Deco angled patterns with delicate flowers and foliage, including gorgeous wood carved name tags on each plate. The fusion of the two styles created a visually stunning environment that enchanted guests at every turn.
As caterers, we embraced the spirit of creativity and craftsmanship by curating a menu that showcased the best of both Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Our hors d’oeuvres featured delectable bites such as watermelon radish tacos filled with creamy sweet potato hummus, smoked salmon roses on crisp cucumber rounds, asparagus veloute, and our signature pickled vegetable, cheese and charcuterie platter designed as a mini grazing table. All dishes were made gluten and legume free. The main course offerings delighted the palate with dishes like duck confit, and pork shank, with a delicate smoked sherry reduction. Both complemented with crisp-tender, seasonal sweet pea pods and pureed carrots with pickled ramps. The vegetarians feasted on kale polenta with wild mushrooms, pesto, burrata and chickpeas. The dinner ended with the amazing gluten-free cake from SweetCrimes — who performed a miracle by creating a beautiful rippled cake design out of buttercream without a sprinkle of fondant in sight!
To fully immerse guests in the world of art and music, the Bachelor Boys brought the energy by playing their special blend of wedding classics to keep the crowd on their feet, from the cocktail hour to the reception. The couple even surprised their guests with a choreographed dance routine inspired by the glamorous movements of the Art Deco era, leaving everyone in awe.
As the night progressed, the celebration overflowed with memorable moments. Laughter, joy, and the clinking of glasses filled from the absinthe fountain as family and friends toasted to the couple’s love.
